IEP Advocacy

An Educational Advocate is...

An educational advocate is someone who has extensive knowledge about special education programs, 504 Plans, IEPs, and the support that they are entitled to receive. This person educates parents and families about the resources available to them and how to get those resources, as needed. Think of us as a coach and cheerleader who is in your corner, fighting with you on behalf of your child’s rights.

What an Advocate
can do for you...

My main priority is to be sure your child is receiving FAPE (Free Appropriate Public Education). There is no “one size fits all” when it comes to advocacy as every family and their needs are different. My job is to evaluate the needs and determine which accommodations and services are best suited to address them.

Advocacy Services:

  • Assist you in getting your child tested through your public school
  • Attend IEP meetings with you to ensure your child is getting the necessary services and accommodations
  • Will guide you through the application process for the SUFS/GARDINER/McKAY scholarship in Florida
  • School Placement (public, private, homeschool)
  • Facilitate setting up and also attending school tours
  • Appropriate Curriculum Selection for your homeschooling
  • Draft letters and emails to the school on your behalf

My services empower families to know their rights and fight for those rights on behalf of their children.
